Lost cities. Buried gold. Breath-taking vistas.
Forty years before the Civil War, the county seat disappeared, leaving behind a legendary pot of gold. Some 10,000 years ago, as million of tons of glacial ice approached Martin County, it explicably halted. When the ice melted, the rushing water carved intricate formations all over the county, including the rare "Jug Rock," deep valleys, stunning ridges and uncommon ridges.
Some say Martin County represents “the most beautiful land you’ve never seen.”
